Covid-19 Update 7/30/2020

In an effort to comply with the new Federal requirement of informing residents, responsible parties and families to the number of confirmed positive COVID-19 virus cases within Transitional Care of Las Vegas, we will be updating this website on a regular basis. The following is a summary of the number of positive cases in Nevada and at Transitional Care of Las Vegas, as well as what the facility done in response to COVID-19.
Today is 7/30/2020, in Nevada there are 1,094 licensed Congregate Settings (Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Child Care Facilities, Behavioral Inpatient and Correctional Facilities. etc) with positive COVID-19 cases. In the state of Nevada there are 46, 824 positive cases of the COVID-19 virus. As of April 20th, we opened up our Specialized Care Unit to provide care for COVID-19 positive patients in the Las Vegas Valley. In total, at Transitional Care of Las Vegas. As of today, there have been 12 patients tested positive while in the facility. To date There has been 8 patient deaths. We have also had 25 employees who have tested positive for COVID-19, including one being reported today. This includes 11 asymptomatic employees that were tested as part of the CMS/State of Nevada mandate. All employees are following the appropriate CDC criteria in returning to work.
Since March Transitional Care of Las Vegas has put into place mitigation efforts guided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We have consulted with the Southern Nevada Health District and the State of Nevada. These are some of the efforts put in place: stopped all visitors coming into the facility, requiring handwashing prior to entering the facility, temperature and Oxygen Saturation checks and signs and symptoms questionnaire for all individuals entering the facility, regular temperature checks and vital sign monitoring of all residents. We purchase FDA approved cleaning products, increased the frequency of cleaning, especially high touch areas, placed a moratorium on group activities, closed doors between units and hallways, consolidated units to maximize the efficient use of staff, encouraged residents to remain in their rooms, utilized disposable dining products for meals, residents who leave their rooms are given masks and educated on social distancing, resident’s meal are served in their room. Residents and staff are educated on infection prevention and control (hand hygiene, mask usage, coughing and sneezing protocols). Universal face masking for staff – the different types and when to use each one, transmission based precautions for any resident with suspected, presumed or positive test, purchase of personal protective equipment in large quantities where ever we can (gowns, face shields, eye protection, gloves, masks (N95, KN95, and surgical) and sanitizer. Transitional Care of Las Vegas continues to update our policies and procedures, as appropriate, in response to COVID-19. The guidance offered by the CDC, CMS and the State of Nevada is constantly reviewed and put into action in so that we put into place best practices for our residents and staff. Additionally, we continue constant contact with the Southern Nevada Health District. Department.
